Mumbai: Byculla Zoo set to open its doors from November 1

The zoo will follow its regular schedule for visitors-6 am to 8.30 am for morning walkers and 9.30 am to 6 pm for tourists

Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Udyan and Zoo, popularly known as Ranicha Baug or Byculla Zoo, which was shut during the lockdown, will reopen for tourists on Monday, November 1, and will follow its regular schedule.


Tourists can visit the zoo from 9.30 am to 6 pm while those coming for morning walks can avail the same from 6 am to 8.30 am. The ticket window, however, will be closed daily at 4 pm instead of the usual 5.15 pm.  



“If the zoo is found to be overcrowded at any time during the day/ holiday, the entrance to the zoo will be closed immediately and ticket sales will be stopped,” said an official from the BMC. He added that senior citizens and children (aged under five years) should avoid visiting the zoo as much as possible.


Advisory for visitors to the zoo

>>It will be mandatory to wear a mask while entering the zoo.
>>Do not crowd. Keep a safe distance between two people.
>>The material storage facility has been temporarily closed.
>>Do not walk in crowds/ groups after entering the zoo.
>>Do not crowd to see the animals in the exhibition area.
>>Do not touch the glass or barricade in the exhibition area to prevent spreading infection.
>>Single-use masks and gloves should not be thrown.
>>No food should be brought in the zoo.
