Four people allegedly tried to assault Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials when they tried to demolish an illegal cricket turf at Borivli west on Wednesday. A case was registered against the four people at Borivli police station.

The R Central ward office was to act against the illegal cricket turf on a plot reserved for a playground at Saibaba Nagar. But BMC officials were stopped by four men there and told that the  plot belongs to them and the civic body should not take any action.

Those involved were allegedly earning money by renting the turf for cricket matches. The police said when BMC personnel tried to demolish the turf, three persons including one Kunal Kerkar tried to obstruct them. He also pushed them. The civic officials then called the police.
