Mumbai: BEST bus services affected for second consecutive day as wet lease drivers go on strike

BEST bus commuters have been affected by the ongoing strike of wet-leased drivers on the second consecutive day with staff from 12 depots participating on Thursday with 921 buses stuck inside various bus depots across the city and suburbs.


"Till now in the morning, 921 buses have been affected by the strike call," a BEST spokesperson confirmed.


The wet-lease employees have been striking for better wages and also demanding better amenities at bus depots. The undertaking has said it will penalise contractors and levy fines of Rs 5,000 per bus, per day as long as the strike continues.


The 12 affected depots on Thursday include Worli, Pratkisha Nagar, Anik, Deonar, Dharavi, Shivaji Nagar, Ghatkopar, Mulund, Majas, Santacruz, Gorai and Magathane.
