A baby boy was found under the lower berth of a train that arrived at CST from Hyderabad early morning on Tuesday. A Railway employee entered the train, which was parked at the cleaning yard, and discovered the tot.


According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, the toddler has been sent to a children’s home in Dongri while the railway cops try to look for more details about the abandoned baby.

The Mumbai Mirror report further added that the child was found in Hussain Sagar Express, which arrived at CST around 5:00 am. It reached the yard half an hour later. A staffer was doing the clean-up job in the train when he noticed some movement under one of the berths. He looked down and found the infant.

“Once I stepped inside the train I saw something move under the seat. It was a small baby. He was wrapped in a piece of cloth,” Datte told Mumbai Mirror, adding that he then informed the stationmaster.

The stationmaster, along with the cops, then headed to the coach in which the baby was found, and brought it out. The Mumbai Mirror report added that the child was taken to St George’s government hospital for treatment. According to the doctors, the baby was 17 days old, the report further read.

GRP senior inspector at CST, S Shinde, told Mumbai Mirror, “The baby was medically fit and was handed over to the child home.”

Cops are now are checking CCTV footage on the train’s route. Meanwhile, the bab will soon be put for adoption.
