Many women and especially children, found it difficult to get off from the trains. The summer heat made it even more tiring for them. The mega block was from 1 pm to 5 pm on the Up and Down slow lines between CST and Currey Road.
But sources say it was extended by another 30 minutes, and there were 30 per cent fewer trains on the tracks. The commuters were further troubled when at 5.45 pm a power failure between Dadar and Parel led to disruption of services.
“We had to cancel 11 services due to this. The trains didn’t have power supply due to which all four lines were down,” said AK Singh, spokesperson, Central Railway.
