In Maharashtra, both fresh Covid-19 cases and the number of deaths see drop

The new cases in the city dipped below 500 again on Friday. The test positivity rate also dipped slightly and was 1.28 per cent. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, 488 new COVID-19 cases were reported on Friday after 37,987 tests. The number of fatalities stayed five in the city.

Of these, two had comorbidities. Two deaths were below 40 years while three deaths were over 60 years of age. The city’s recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 421 people recovered and were discharged on Friday. The doubling rate dipped to 1,120 days.

As per the state health department report, 2,149 cases were reported on Friday, marginally lower than Thursday. There were 29 deaths across the state. The state’s case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent. A total of 1,898 patients recovered and were discharged on Friday across the state. Currently the state has 29,782 active cases.
The MMR reported 862 cases. Apart from Mumbai, Thane city reported the maximum number of daily cases in the MMR with 66 new cases. It was followed by Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation with 56 new cases and Panvel with 51 cases. While Raigad had 47 cases, Vasai-Virar recorded 46 cases and Navi Mumbai recorded 43 cases. MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered just one death, which was reported in Ulhasnagar area.
