Lucky escape
The incident occurred yesterday at around 5.50 pm as Nahar tried to board a moving train from Bandra. Eyewitnesses said he lost his footing on the wet footboard and fell into the gap between the train and platform number 1.
While the passengers immediately pulled the emergency chain, the train travelled a few yards before it halted. It was the GRP officials who rushed to the spot and pulled Nahar out. In fact, the railway cops actually had to break a part of the platform to dislodge his body from the gap. Some officials said they were surprised to find that Nahar had neither severed a limb, nor sustained major injuries.
"We pulled out the man from the gap and were surprised to see that he had only minor injuries on his upper body. An ambulance was immediately called and he was sent to Bhabha Hospital for treatment," said one of the GRP officials.
Doc speak
The on-duty resident medical officer at Bhabha Hospital said Nahar had sustained only minor abdominal injuries and was in a state of shock when admitted to the hospital.
"We sent him for sonography and the results for other tests are awaited. The line of treatment will be decided upon receiving them. For now, the patient is under observation," said the doctor.
