Man killed after part of building collapses in Navi Mumbai

A 31-year-old man was killed after a portion of a residential building collapsed in Navi Mumbai


The incident took place around 10.30 pm on Saturday in Bonkode locality in the Koparkhairne area. Families living in the four-storey building had started evacuating the building on Saturday evening as a part of the building was leaning.

Fire Brigade and locals launched a search operation and came to know that, a man had gone to the washroom while residents were vacating the building. On Sunday morning, around 5.30 am the body was recovered from the debris. The deceased is identified as Priyavarta Sarveshwar Dutta (31).

The building, known as the Chavhan building was constructed in 2007 and 35 families lived there. The rest of the residents living in the building were safe, so the search operation was stopped on Sunday morning.
