Three persons were killed and 11 others injured, five of them seriously, in an accident involving a tempo and a maxi cab in Maharashtra's Palghar district on Monday evening, an official said, reported news agency PTI.

The accident took place at Valwanda village on the Jawhar-Nashik road.
The three deceased persons were on their way from Dindori in Nashik district to the Jiwdani temple in Palghar's Virar, reported PTI.
The seriously injured persons were taken to Nashik Civil Hospital, he added, reported PTI.

In another incident, a couple walking on the road was crushed to death and another pedestrian was injured when a speeding dumper knocked them down in Maharashtra's Palghar district on Monday, an official said, reported PTI.
The incident took place in the Vikramgad area after which the dumper driver was arrested, he said, reported PTI.
The speeding dumper first hit a state transport bus and then an SUV before running over three pedestrians, reported PTI.
Victims Lakma Wagh (55) and his wife Sunita (50) died on the spot, while the third person, who was injured, was rushed to a local hospital, said assistant inspector Ravindra Parkhe of Vikramgad police station, reported PTI.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case against the driver of a dumper truck in connection with the death of its cleaner following an accident involving the vehicle in Maharashtra's Navi Mumbai, an official said on Monday, reported PTI.
The incident took place on May 23 evening when the accused was taking the vehicle for repairs, the official from Panvel Town police station said.
At a road turning towards Kalamboli, the driver heard a scratching sound from the wheels. Upon checking, he found a stone was stuck in one of the wheels and sought help of the 54-year-old cleaner to remove it, reported PTI.
While the cleaner was removing the stone from the wheel, the accused allegedly moved the dumper, crushing the former, the official said.
The victim was badly injured and died on way to hospital, he said, reported PTI.
After being alerted, the police reached the spot and sent the body to a local hospital for postmortem.
Based on a complaint by a relative of the deceased, the police on Sunday registered a case against the dumper driver under Indian Penal Code sections 304 (A) (causing death by negligence), 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 338 ((causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, the official said.
