The Pune police control room received a phone call, originating from the US, in the wee hours of Tuesday in which the person on the other side informed about presence of a "suspected terrorist" in Mumbai, said an official.

The call was received at around 1 am and the Pune police immediately contacted their counterparts in Mumbai and informed them about it.

"The police control room received a call in which the caller informed us about a particular person in Mumbai, asked us to check on him, and claimed that person is a suspected terrorist. We immediately informed the Mumbai police about the call and they are looking into it," said the official.

He said the call originated from the US.

It appears the call was fishy as the locations of both the caller and the person about whom he gave information were later traced to America, said another police officer.

On August 6, Mumbai police arrested a man from the Juhu area who had made a threatening call at the Mumbai Police Control Room earlier today.

"The man who had placed a threat call at the Mumbai Police control room was arrested from the Juhu area by Juhu Police. A case was registered against him. He had placed the call under the influence of alcohol,” said the Mumbai police.

The Mumbai police control room had received a threat over the phone from an unidentified caller. The caller claimed the possibility of a serial blast in a local train, according to the police.

However, when the police official sought more information on it, the caller did not respond.

"Police control room received a threat call from a man. The caller told Police that serial blasts will take place on a local train in Mumbai. The caller claimed to be speaking from the Vile Parle area and then switched off his phone", said the Mumbai police.

Considering the gravity of the situation, the police alerted the officials.

A day before, a hoax bomb threat was received by the Mumbai Police from an unidentified caller claiming the possibility of a blast or untoward incident at Mumbai and Delhi Domestic and International Airports, officials said. (Agencies)
