The monsoon session of the Maharashtra legislature, which was earlier scheduled to commence on June 10, is now expected to begin in end of June, reported PTI citing state forest minister Sudhir Mungantiwar on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters in Mumbai, he said, "Earlier, it was decided that the Maharashtra legislature's monsoon session will start on June 10. Now, it has been postponed until June 27."

Although the minister did not provide any reason for the postponement, it appears the move is linked to the formation of the new BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the Centre, said the PTI report.

The upcoming session of the Maharashtra legislature in Mumbai will be the last one before the state heads to assembly polls which are due in October.
Mumbai parties move on to MLC polls
After the LS polls, BJP and Shiv Sena (UBT) party workers in Mumbai are now focusing on the graduate and teachers constituency elections of the Maharashtra Legislative Council. Both parties have urged their workers to remain vigilant and reach out to every voter. The term of the current member will end on July 7. According to the EC, the elections for both constituencies will be held on June 26, with the results announced on July 1.
A BJP Mumbai leader stated that the voting outcome for the graduate constituency depends on which party registered more voters. Our leader has already instructed us to reach out to every graduate voter. On Sunday, Mumbai BJP president Adv Ashish Shelar conducted a meeting with senior party members of the city to discuss the strategy for the MLC election.
After the meeting, while speaking with the media, MLA Ashish Shelar said, “Due to the good voter registration done through the organisation, party members insist that BJP should contest both the teacher and graduate election seats in Mumbai. The final decision will be made by the region's core committee, and as a Mahayuti, the steering committee will discuss it among themselves and announce it in a few days.”
Shiv Sena (UBT) announced Anil Parab as the candidate for the graduate constituency and J M Abhyankar for the teachers constituency. J M Abhyankar is a school education expert and the division head of the UBT Shikshak Sena. He has also held the post of the chairman of the state scheduled castes and tribes commission.
"Since 1985, we have won this constituency. Our Shakha (local party offices) have a list of every graduate voter, and we have already started meeting them," stated the UBT leader, emphasising the significance of voter registration in determining the outcome of graduate constituency elections.
According to the EC data, there are around 91,253 voters in the graduate constituency and 14,515 voters in the teachers' constituency. Former member of the graduate constituency of undivided Shiv Sena, Dr Deepak Sawant, is also willing to contest the election again. He is now with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena.
