HSC students from the state board and their parents are under tremendous stress in the absence of any clarity on results, particularly since other boards have already taken a decision on it.

A meeting was held by the School Education minister Varsha Gaikwad on Sunday with educationists, teachers and principals of several junior and degree colleges to discuss the HSC result pattern. Suggestions were sought from participating members on how to make degree admissions fair when the result is going to be based on a marking formula.
“As State Board’s Class XII exam has been cancelled; several meetings are being held with educationists and stakeholders to decide upon an evaluation formula. Today’s meeting was with college principals, teachers and officials from the education department,” Gaikwad tweeted after the meeting.
Sources said many favoured the CBSE’s 30:30:40 formula for HSC result, taking into consideration marks obtained by students in Std X, XI and XII. However, degree admissions have been a major concern since they are generally determined by HSC scores. While for professional courses, entrance tests already exist, for traditional degree admissions too, CET can be an option, according to educationists.
There was also a suggestion to hold a centralised CET as one planned for Std X admissions. Many pointed out individually held admission processes by several universities, indicating that there could be different CETs for different university admissions.
“Several points were discussed as many suggestions came in. However, there is no decision as yet and such meetings are to continue before a marking formula for HSC is declared. Students should wait for an official announcement on it and do not anticipate anything,” shared a senior official from the state education department.
