Maharashtra: Bison falls in well in Mahabaleshwar, rescue operation underway

A bison fell into a water well at Greenwood society, Lingmala in Mahableshwar on Sunday, said a member of the Mahabaleshwar Trekkers team.


The animal’s head was pulled out of the water and supported using ropes, he added. The Trekkers team was waiting for forest officials to arrive from Kolhapur with Hydra cranes and pull the animal out of the well.



 “I got a call from a local around 3.25 pm about a bison who fell in a well. I immediately reached the spot with my team and we have managed to support the bison’s head using trekking ropes so that it doesn’t drown. We are waiting for forest officials to arrive from Kolhapur and pull the bovine out,” said Sunil Bhatia, founder member , Mahabaleshwar Trekkers team.
