Lata Mangeshkar in ICU, but stable: Doctors

Lata Mangeshkar was hospitalised late Saturday night

Lata Mangeshkar, the legendary singer, who tested positive for Covid-19 is now stable and under observation at Breach Candy Hospital. The 92-year-old veteran was brought to the hospital late Saturday night. She was shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU) after doctors found a lung involvement because of Covid-19.

According to the doctors, Mangeshkar has been detected with Covid-19 pneumonia. She had taken both the doses of the vaccine against Covid-19 and was waiting for the booster shot. “We need to wait and watch, as there is a lung involvement and we have to consider her age,” said Dr Pratit Samdani, internal physician and intensivist, under whose case she is admitted at Breach Candy.

In November 2019, Mangeshkar was admitted to the same hospital for treatment of pneumonia. She had breathing difficulties then and stayed in the hospital for close to 28 days. Mangeshkar, the Bharat Ratna awardee, started her career at the age of 13 in 1942 and has over 30,000 songs, sung in different languages, to her credit.
