Gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 28.5 lakh have gone missing from a jewellery shop in Navi Mumbai. The accused are still absconding. On Thursday, Sunil Soni, the owner of Dharmaraj Jewellery, which is located at Kamothe, sector 11, Navi Mumbai shut his shop at 10 pm. It remained shut on Friday too.

On Saturday morning when Soni opened his store, he saw that the main vault was open and 954 grams of gold and 14 kg of silver were missing. Assistant police inspector Vasant Sapre of Kamothe police station said, “There was a CCTV camera installed at the shop but the accused took the recording and fled.
First, they entered the adjacent fruit shop and made a hole in the wall that connects both the stores with a gas cutter. They broke open the vault and stole the valuables. The fruit seller is also absconding. We are investigating the case.” A case has been registered under sections 454, 457, 380 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
