“Unlike the second wave, the symptoms now are more related to fever, body ache, headache, sore throat and do not affect the lungs. So the treatment protocol will be different. It is also important to know which medications to take and which to avoid as per the situation,” said Dr Mangesh Pate, secretary of IMA. He added that the protocol will not only be limited to medicine but will also cater to patients in isolation, infection control at home and hospital level, guidelines to curb the spread.
The statement from IMA read, “The task force shall ensure and roll out the Covid-19 management protocols soon. IMA Maharashtra, having its deepest reach through more than 225 branches, shall propagate the same in all IMA hospitals in the state. We appeal to all IMA members and hospitals to adapt to this working method through standardised protocols during this testing time.”
