A massive fire broke out at a slum in Mumbai's Kurla East slum area - Qureshi Nagar in the early hours of Friday morning.

According to officials, no casualty or injury to anyone has been reported so far. "The locals of the area noticed the fire and raised an alarm," said the official.

Around five to six residential structures have been gutted, the official informed. "These are one-storey structures. No one was injured," said the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) official.

"At 5:20 am, a fire broke out due to a short circuit in the meter box. The fire was extinguished completely after two hours," the MFB official added.

Following the information, fire tenders reached the spot and started the operation to douse the fire.

"The fire started from the electric meter box. The primary cause of the fire has been identified as a short circuit," the official added.

Further details are awaited.
