For fast and cashless travel, 100 per cent FASTag system will be implemented from January 26, 2021 on all lanes of Bandra Worli Sea link and Yashwantrao Chavan Mumbai-Pune Expressway under the jurisdiction of Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation.

To increase the number of vehicles using FASTag, the Corporation has been providing 5 per cent cash back to car, jeep and SUV FASTag vehicle owners on Bandra-Worli Sea Bridge and Mumbai-Pune Expressway from January 11, 2021.

According to a press release issued by MSRDC, through these cash backs, the number of vehicles using FASTag has increased and MSRDC took this decision with a view to 100 per cent implementation of FASTag.

The press release further states that, from January 26, 2021, all the lanes on Bandra-Worli Sea Link and Mumbai-Pune Expressway will be equipped with the electronic system.

‘FASTag -bearing vehicles will be a priority at roadblocks on both the routes from tomorrow. Some lanes will be hybrid lanes for a limited time.

Vehicle owners who do not FASTag in that lane can pay cash but they will have to buy a FASTag from a stall near toll plazas and put it on the vehicle, said Vijay Waghmare, co-managing director of MSRDC.

Vehicles entering the FASTag lane without it or blacklisted tags will have to pay double the road tax fee.
