Daily Covid-19 cases drop to 827; Mumbai sees 7 deaths

Mumbai saw 827 new cases along with seven deaths on Thursday. The test positivity rate marginally dropped to 2.29 per cent.  Of the seven fatalities, all were above the age of 60 years, while five were comorbid. Around 87 per cent of the patients turning positive on Thursday were asymptomatic as 105 people were hospitalised of which 26 are in the oxygen bed. 


The recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent, with 1,366 patients getting discharged. The doubling rate improved to 623 days. As per the state government data, 15,252 new cases and 75 deaths were reported across Maharashtra. The state’s case-fatality rate dipped to 1.83 per cent. A total of 30,235 people were discharged during the day. The state’s active cases stood at 1,58,151 on Thursday.



The Mumbai Metropolitan Region registered 2,037 infections. Panvel and Navi Mumbai reported 178 and 192 cases respectively, the highest in MMR after Mumbai. While Raigad saw 168 cases, Vasai-Virar had 54 cases and Thane Municipal Corporation had 172 cases. Other than Mumbai, the MMR saw 17 deaths. Kalyan-Dombivili reported 8 deaths, the highest in MMR. Navi Mumbai saw four deaths, while Vasai-Virar and Panvel reported two deaths each. Mira-Bhayandar and Panvel saw one death each.
