As part of the new timetable announced by the Central Railway (CR) on Sunday, 12 AC local train services will replace regular ones and all services till Andheri will be extended to/from Goregaon from December 1 onwards. Anil Kumar Lahoti, general manager of CR said that the extension of the Panvel-Andheri and CSMT-Andheri services to Goregaon, in coordination with the Western Railway, will help passengers save time and travel seamlessly between Navi Mumbai and Mumbai.

mid-day had first highlighted on November 17 how the CR had planned to extend all Andheri services to Goregaon. The salient features of the timetable include introduction of 12 AC local train services on the harbour line and extension of all CSMT-Andheri services and Panvel-Andheri services to/from Goregaon station. About 44 services running between CSMT and Andheri will be extended to/from Goregaon (currently 42 services are running between the two stations), 18 services running between Panvel and Andheri will be extended to/from Goregaon and two services running between CSMT and Bandra will be extended to/from Goregaon. In total, the number of services from/to Goregaon will increase from 42 to 106 and the total number of services from/to Bandra will be 86.
Earlier, services could not run beyond Andheri on the harbour line due to a terminating platform. The extension of services will benefit over 7,000 passengers from Jogeshwari, Ram Mandir and Goregaon stations and an additional 6,000 passengers from other stations like Kandivli and Malad. However, the total number of services on the harbour line will remain 614 and trans-harbour line will remain 262. Similarly, the number of suburban services on the Mumbai division will remain 1,774.
The number of morning peak hour services on the fourth corridor will increase, however the total number of services will remain the same, which is 40. The TBR-1 Belapur local leaving Thane at 10.40 hours and TBR-3 Belapur local leaving Thane at 23.14 hours will now run up to Panvel.
AC services from December
These services on the harbour line will run with AC rakes from Monday to Saturday with effect from December 1. On Sundays/nominated holidays, normal services will run.
