However, fatalities fall; cases and deaths in state see a rise

After a test positivity rate (TPR) of below 1%, the city’s TPR shot up again and new cases, too, rose to over 400 on Wednesday. However, the COVID-19 fatalities saw a dip. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, 420 new cases were reported on Wednesday along with four deaths, and the city’s TPR was 1.07%.

OF the four deceased, two had comorbidities. While one of the deceased was below 40 years of age, the other three deceased were above 60 years of age.
The doubling rate improved to 1,373 days on Wednesday. The city’s recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 355 people recovered and were discharged on Wednesday.

In the state, the new cases saw a significant rise for the second consecutive day. The state’s COVID-19 fatalities also saw a marginal rise. As per the state health department report, 1,485 cases were reported along with 38 deaths.
The state’s case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent as 2,536 recovered and got discharged on Wednesday. Currently the state has 19,480 active cases.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) also saw a significant rise in new cases.
As per the state report, 697 cases were reported in the MMR including cases from Mumbai.
Apart from Mumbai, Navi Mumbai reported the maximum number of daily cases in the MMR with 68 new cases. It was followed by Kalyan-Dombivli with 41 cases each. While Panvel saw 22 cases each, Raigad had 17 cases, Vasai-Virar witnessed 31 cases.
MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered 13 deaths. While Kalyan-Dombivli registered seven deaths, highest in MMR, Thane saw four deaths and Panvel saw one.
