Mumbai registered a significant rise in the Covid test positivity rate (TPR) and a marginal increase in fresh cases on Friday. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, 238 new cases and two deaths were reported, while the city saw a TPR of 0.71 per cent.


Both the deceased had comorbidities and were above 60 years of age. The city witnessed zero deaths for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic on October 17. The doubling rate significantly improved and was 2,274 days on Friday.


The city’s recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 272 people were discharged after full recovery on Friday. The state saw a marginal drop in new cases and in Covid-19 fatalities. As per the state health department report, 906 cases were reported along with 15 deaths.


Case fatality rate constant

The state’s case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent as 918 people were discharged after full recovery on Friday. Currently the state has 11,704 active cases.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) also saw a marginal rise in new cases. As per the state report, 404 cases were reported in the MMR, including the ones from Mumbai. After Mumbai, Navi Mumbai reported the maximum number of daily cases in the MMR at 30. It was followed by Thane Municipal Corporation, which reported 28 cases.

While Kalyan-Dombivili reported 23 cases, 24 cases were registered in Vasai-Virar and Panvel saw 16 cases. The MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered four deaths. Vasai-Virar reported two deaths while Thane and Navi Mumbai saw one death each.
