Mumbai saw a dip in the Test Positivity Rate (TPR) for the second consecutive day on Thursday amid reducing cases. As per the report released by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), 4,192 new COVID cases were recorded, with the TPR being 10.79 per cent. The city also recorded 82 deaths and tested 38,848 people. 


Out of the 82 deaths reported in Mumbai, 57 patients had comorbidities, 43 were male and 39 female, three patients were below 40 years of age, 28 patients were between 40 and 60 years of age and 51 patients were above 60 years of age.


The recovery rate in the city also improved and was 88 per cent. The doubling rate in the city now stands at 79 days. The city reported the highest number of cases — 11,163 on April 4, after which a declining trend started.


Mumbai also saw 5,650 patients recovering and getting discharged on Thursday, with the number of active cases being 64,018, and total COVID cases being 6,44,699. 
Maharashtra on Thursday saw a considerable dip in fatalities at 771. The total death toll in the state now is 67,985. Meanwhile, the state also reported 66,159 new infections on Thursday, marginally higher than Wednesday.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) on Thursday reported lesser COVID-19 cases at 11,344, including the ones in Mumbai. It is slightly lesser than Wednesday’s count. Cities like Thane recorded 1,160 cases, Navi Mumbai 559 and Kalyan-Dombivli 864.

The MMR, excluding Mumbai, witnessed 62 deaths out of which 15 were reported in Thane, two in Raigad, 11 in Panvel and 17 in Kalyan-Dombivili.
A total of 68,537 patients were discharged across Maharashtra. As on Thursday, there are 6,70,301 active cases in the state.
