The test positivity rate (TPR) in the city fell below 1 per cent for the first time in the second wave. Along with the TPR, which was 0.96 per cent on Thursday, the daily cases also dropped significantly to 340. Mumbai had seen 404 cases and a TPR of 1.24 per cent on Wednesday.
 
After registering daily Covid-19 fatalities in single digit for the past few days, the city saw a jump in the figure on Thursday. A total of 13 deaths were confirmed in the city. Eleven of the deceased patients had comorbidities, eight were senior citizens, one was aged below 40 year and one was in the 40-59 years age group.


The doubling rate of infections in the city continued to improve and was 1,405 days on Thursday. The recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent and 403 people were discharged.

The state-wide daily tally saw a marginal rise in cases, but a significant drop in casualties. State health department officials confirmed 7,242 new Covid-19 infections and 190 deaths.  The case fatality rate remained constant at 2.1 per cent and 11,124 people went back home after full recovery. As of Thursday, the state has 78,562 active cases.

18 deaths in MMR

The new cases in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) stood at 1,011. Navi Mumbai and Raigad reported the maximum number of new cases after Mumbai, at 104 and 212, respectively. Panvel reported 86 new cases, Thane 61 and Vasai-Virar 51. 

Daily Covid-19 fatalities in the MMR rose by 18 on Thursday, excluding the ones reported in Mumbai. Vasai-Virar reported five deaths, highest in the MMR after Mumbai, followed by three in Thane. Kalyan-Dombivli, Navi Mumbai and Panvel registered two deaths each.
