With restrictions imposed in many districts of the state, owing to a surge in COVID-19 cases, those looking for respite in numbers will be disappointed. Even as Maharashtra recorded over 15,000 cases in a span of 24 hours, Mumbai recorded 1,709 cases on Saturday.


The state’s mortality rate also shot up, with 88 COVID-related deaths being recorded in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s total to 52,811.


The Thane Municipal Corporation, Navi Mumbai and Kalyan Dombivli Corporation continued to record surge in cases with 338, 196 and 419 cases respectively. 


The state’s recovery rate has dropped to 92.49 per cent, with 7,467 patients being discharged across the state on Saturday. The total number of active COVID-19 patients in the state currently stands at 1,18,525. 

Mumbai’s recovery rate has dropped and stands at 92 per cent while the doubling rate is now 186 days. The total positive case ratio is 9.66 per cent. The number of active cases now stands at 13,247 in the city.

In Maharashtra, Nagpur led with 11 deaths reported in a single day. MMR recorded a total of 17 deaths, and there were five deaths each in Mumbai and Thane region, along with three in Raigad and one each in Navi Mumbai, Ulhasnagar, Mira-Bhayandar and Panvel. Mumbai civic officials said out of these five deaths, three had other ailments and one patient was a senior citizen.
