Mumbai’s TPR is 1 per cent; state’s new cases and deaths see a fall

Mumbai’s daily new cases fell below 400 as the city registered test positivity rate (TPR) at 1 per cent on Thursday, but the Covid-19 fatalities saw a marginal rise. There were 327 new cases and six deaths.

Of the six deceased, four had comorbidities. All six were above 60 years of age. The doubling rate improved to 1,412 days on Thursday. The city’s recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 365 people recovered and were discharged on Thursday.

In the state, the new cases saw a marginal dip along with Covid-19 fatalities. As per the state health department report, 1,418 cases were reported with 36 deaths. The state’s case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent as 2,112 recovered and got discharged on Thursday. Currently the state has 18,748 active cases.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) also saw a marginal drop in new cases. As per the state report, 649 cases were reported in the MMR including cases from Mumbai.
Apart from Mumbai, Kalyan-Dombivli reported the maximum number of daily cases in the MMR with 65 new cases. It was followed by Thane Municipal Corporation with 46 cases each. While Panvel saw 34 cases each, Raigad had 14 cases, Vasai-Virar witnessed 41 cases.
MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered 12 deaths. While Kalyan-Dombivli registered six deaths, Navi Mumbai saw three deaths and Thane Municipal Corporation saw two deaths.
