Covid-19 fatalities rise both in Mumbai and across Maharashtra

However, both Mumbai and Maharashtra see a fall in new Covid infections; city’s TPR rises to 1.25 per cent

Mumbai continued to see a rise in test positivity rate (TPR) for the second consecutive day on Thursday. The city’s TPR was 1.25%. However, the city saw a marginal dip in daily cases. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, 429 new cases were reported in the city on Thursday while there were five deaths.


Four of the deceased had comorbidities. While one of the deceased was in the age group 40 years-60 years, the other four were above 60 years of age.



The doubling rate improved to 1,328 days on Thursday. The city’s recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 435 people recovered and were discharged on Thursday. 


In the state, the new cases saw a significant dip. However, there was a significant rise in Covid-19 fatalities. As per the state health department report, 1,573 cases were reported along with 39 deaths.

The state’s case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent as 2,968 recovered and got discharged on Thursday. Currently the state has 24,292 active cases. 

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) saw a marginal drop in new cases. As per the state report, 708 cases were reported in the MMR including cases from Mumbai. 

Apart from Mumbai, Navi Mumbai reported the maximum number of daily cases in the MMR with 51 new cases. It was followed by Vasai-Virar with 40 cases. While Panvel saw 38 cases each, Raigad had 28 cases, Kalyan-Dombivli witnessed 23 cases. 

MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered three deaths. While Panvel registered two deaths each, Raigad saw one death.
