Covid-19: Cases continue to remain below 1,500 in Mumbai

After recording less than 1,000 cases last Tuesday, the city has been reporting between 1,200 and 1,400 Covid-19 cases. On Saturday, 1,299 new cases were reported in the city, along with 52 deaths. In the state, the number of deaths increased as high numbers were recorded in Kolhapur and Konkan regions.


As per BMC, 29,264 tests were conducted and a test positivity rate of 4.4 per cent was recorded. Meanwhile 1,827 patients have recovered in a day. Out of the 52 deaths recorded, 37 patients had comorbidities, 36 were above 60 years of age, 14 were between 40 and 60 years of age and two deaths were below 40 years of age.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) reported 3,603 cases on Saturday. Cities like Thane recorded 196 cases, Navi Mumbai 146 and Kalyan-Dombivli 207 cases. The MMR, excluding Mumbai, witnessed 54 deaths, out of which 32 were reported in Raigad and Panvel, six were reported in Navi Mumbai and seven in Vasai-Virar.

The daily number of new cases in the state is 26,133. Pune circle reported 6,652, Nashik circle 4,130 and Nagpur 2,086 cases. A total of 40,294 patients were discharged across Maharashtra, and the number of active cases stands at 3.5 lakh on Saturday.
