CM to inaugurate Maheshwari Udyan-Tulpule Chowk flyover

Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan will throw open the Maheshwari Udyan-Tulpule Chowk flyover today at 5 pm, and the ceremony will be presided over by the Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan will throw open the Maheshwari Udyan-Tulpule Chowk flyover todayu00a0 at 5 pm, and the ceremony will be presided over by the Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. The 1.5 km Maheshwari Udyan-Tulpule Chowk flyover is all set to carry vehicular traffic from South Mumbai to Eastern suburbs, Sion-Panvel Highway and Mumbai-Pune Expressway.



"This is the third flyover that will be opened on Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Road after flyovers at Sion Hospital and Hindmata junction. We will also be completing the construction of the 2.5 km Lalbaug flyover very soon. These four flyovers together will offer easy and comfortable connectivity with the Eastern suburbs", said Rahul Asthana, Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA. The Rs 70-crore Maheshwari Udyan-Tulpule Chowk flyover is 17 meters wide providing two Southbound and Northbound lanes each.

The Rs 150-crore and 2.5 km Lalbaug flyover will also be 17 meters wide providing two Southbound and Northbound lanes each. "The Lalbaug flyover is being constructed on a single pier system with the help of launching girder technology with pre-fabricated segments", said Ashwini Bhide, additional metropolitan commissioner, MMRDA. Also present on the occasion will be Jayant Patil, Minister for Rural Development and Guardian Minister, Shraddha Jadhav, Mayor of Mumbai, MP Eknath Gaikwad, Ratnakar Gaikwad, Chief Secretary, GoM.
