Three fresh FIRs have been registered by the CBI against gangster Chhota Rajan who is currently lodged in Delhi jail. Sources from the CBI said on Thursday they took over three different cases, in which police had filed charge-sheets naming Rajan and his associates. Sources revealed that CBI has taken over Bandra, Khar and Juhu police station cases.

The first case was registered at Khar police station in 1995, wherein one Sham Sunder Raj was shot dead. Khar police had filed the charge-sheet against Rajan and his associates under Sections 307, 302, 34, of Indian Penal Code and 3, 25 of Indian Arms Act.

In the second case, which was registered at Bandra police station in 1999, unknown persons opened fire at the owner of MK Builders, Majid Khan, his associates, and some pedestrians, and killed three persons. A charge-sheet was filed by the ACP Bandra division before a special designated MCOCA court against Rajan and others under Sections 302, 307, 34 of IPC and 3, 5, 25 of Arms Act.

In the third case which was registered with Juhu police station, Rajan’s associates had made an extortion call to a businessman identified as Virendra Jain. Rajan also asked him to pay Rs 25 lakh in 2002 and if he did not fulfill the demands, threatened to kill him and his family members. The case was later handed over to Mumbai Crime Branch’s Anti-Extortion Cell for further investigation. A charge-sheet was filed by ANC against Rajan and his associates under Sections 387, 34, 120 (B) of IPC and various sections of MCOCA.
