To speed up vaccination drive, civic body urges eligible citizens to line up at nearest centre

To increase the number of senior citizens getting vaccinated, the BMC has appealed that those eligible, visit their nearest centre without waiting for the date of the scheduled appointment. An official from the BMC told mid-day, “All eligible citizens should register themselves on the Co-WIN portal and visit their nearest vaccination centre.”

Of the 49,547 people who got vaccinated on Saturday, 24,699 were senior citizens and 5,963 were beneficiaries with comorbidities So far, 7.42 lakh people have taken their first dose in the state, including 1.43 lakh health workers, 3.97 lakh senior citizens and 61,000 people aged between 45 and 59 years with comorbidities. Those who have taken their second dose account for 1.17 lakh.
