BJP will be wiped out not only from Maharashtra but other states: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi

He said that the way the Bharatiya Janata Party was convincingly defeated in Karnataka, it will face the same fate not only in Maharashtra but other states.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and expressed confidence that the right-wing party would lose power both at the national and state levels. Gandhi particularly highlighted upcoming elections in Maharashtra, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh as battlegrounds for the BJP's potential defeat.

Gandhi asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's reliance on billionaire Gautam Adani's support would not succeed in erasing the Congress party, drawing a parallel with India's historical resistance to foreign powers. He cited the BJP's defeat in Karnataka as a precursor to what might transpire in other states.

“(Narendra) Modi thinks that he will erase the Congress party from India with the help of billionaire Gautam Adani’s money. The fact is that the then superpower England couldn’t rout out Congress, how can Modi do it.”

He said that the way the Bharatiya Janata Party was convincingly defeated in Karnataka, it will face the same fate not only in Maharashtra but other states.

Gandhi said that the INDIA alliance is going to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party in national elections. “Let them use all the agencies, I tell you INDIA alliance will win the elections.”

Earlier speaking at a joint press conference after the meeting of the INDIA bloc in Mumbai, the Congress leader pointed out that the task for the opposition is to come together in the most efficient way possible.

He said two major steps have been initiated to ensure the opposition unity—the formation of a coordination committee and the move to expedite discussions on the seat-sharing process. The coordination committee was formed comprising senior leaders Sharad Pawar, K.C. Venugopal, Hemant Soren, and Tejashwi Yadav among others. The Congress leader claimed that these steps will ensure that the BJP is defeated in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

"The real work in this alliance is the relationships that are forged between leaders of this alliance," he said and added the earlier meetings of the INDIA bloc have played a crucial role in ensuring rapport between the opposition leaders. The Congress leader pointed out that there is much flexibility among the many senior leaders in the INDIA bloc.

He said that the Prime Minister and the BJP are a "nexus of corruption" and that is the first thing that the INDIA alliance is going to demonstrate and prove. "The idea behind Prime Minister Modi’s government is to extract money from the poor people of this country and transfer it to a limited few and so, we are going to propose a clear development path. We are going to put together a clear set of ideas that will once again involve the poor people, the farmers, the kisans, the workers in the progress of this country."
