A fire broke out in the basement of Asian Heart Institute hospital in Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai on Wednesday night, but no one was injured. The hospital authorities described it as "minor".
Fire brigade control room received the call at 9.45 pm and four fire engines and as many water tankers were pressed into service, a fire brigade official said. Chief fire officer P S Rahangdale said it was a 'Level II' fire call and the fire was confined to two small basement areas.
Situation was under control and no evacuation of patients was necessitated, he said. Hospital sources said late in the night that there was a "minor fire" in the basement which was picked up by the fire alarm system.
It was immediately controlled by the staff and fire brigade was called, they said, adding there was no harm to the patients, patient care and all hospital functions are continuing normally.
