State, too, sees drop in cases, reports 2,026 fresh infections

After witnessing a significant jump in new cases and Test Positivity Rate (TPR) on Sunday, Mumbai’s fresh infections fell below 400 on Monday. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, 341 new cases were reported. The TPR was 1.20 per cent and the city recorded two deaths.

Both the deceased had comorbidities and were above 60 years of age.
The doubling rate dipped and was 1,154 days on Monday. The city’s recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 520 people were discharged after full recovery.
The state’s fresh COVID-19 cases also saw a significant drop. As per the state health department report, 2,026 new cases and 26 deaths were reported.

Maharashtra’s case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent as 5,389 people were discharged after full recovery on Monday. The state has 33,637 active cases. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) also saw a significant dip in new cases. As per the state report, 657 fresh cases were reported in the MMR, including those from Mumbai.
Apart from Mumbai, Thane Municipal Corporation reported the maximum number of daily cases in the MMR at 62, followed by Panvel with 47 cases. While Navi Mumbai saw 43 cases, Thane reported 25 cases and Mira-Bhayandar witnessed 26 cases. Vasai-Virar had 22 cases and Raigad reported 44 cases.
The MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered two deaths on Monday. Both the deaths were reported in Navi Mumbai.
