On May 21, Ganesh Dunghav (23), a security guard, was brutally killed in Ghatkopar by the Shah gang. The police have arrested around 10 suspects, who are part of the gang.
Ganesh’s father Chandrasen Dunghav and mother Indu allege that Kiran Ramneeklal Shah, Vinod Ramneeklal Shah, Deepak Ramneeklal Shah and Ajay Ramneeklal Shah are brothers and run a gang called the Shah gang.
They are involved in several criminal activities and are forcing youth to join their gang, they claim. The Dunghavs further added that the gang members are known to gamble and pick up fights, and the Ghatkopar police neglected to file any complaint.
Ignored
On January 16, Indu Dunghav had complained (copies available with MiD DAY) to the chief minister, the home minister, the director general of police, the commissioner of police, the additional commissioner of police, the deputy commissioner of police, the assistant commissioner of police and to officials at the Ghatkopar police station that the Shah brothers were threatening to kill her son. She and her family had also met several senior cops requesting action.
In fact, the day Ganesh was killed, the Dunghav family and some Ghtakopar residents had met a senior inspector at Ghatkopar police station, where one of the Shah brothers, Vinod, appeared and threatened to kill Ganesh.
While the senior inspector was not available for comment, DCP Satyanarayan Choudhary, PRO of the police, said, “I will have to look into the matter before I can make any comment.” u00a0
