Woman's body found near Navi Mumbai railway station with her throat slit

The nude body of a woman with a slit throat was found near the Juinagar railway station in neighbouring Navi Mumbai on Monday.


The 35-year-old woman’s corpse was discovered beneath a foot-over-bridge outside the Juinagar railway station at around 1.30pm. The victim was naked and her throat had been slit. A knife was also found next to her at the spot.

The police said the woman’s husband had reported the incident and was being interrogated. “The facts of the case are not yet very clear and we still investigating the case. We got to know of the incident at 1pm and immediately reached the spot,” said constable Jetendra Sonawane with Turbe police station said.

Locals in the area said that the lady had three children and lived in a make shift slum near the railway station itself.

The body was taken to Vashi’s Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s (NMMC) Hospital for post mortem.
