Officials from the MIDC police station, Andheri (East) have arrested Rupa (30) and her lover Sunil Chavan for allegedly murdering Rupa's husband NCP leader and cable operator Vilas Khot (46).
On Monday morning Vilas Khot was found dead at his residence and Rupa herself notified the police.
"When we reached Khot's house, we found au00a0 freshly washed pillow case and a blanket.

We found it strange for a wife to have washed such articles after the demise of her husband and that heightened our suspicions," said Inspector Mohan Waghmare, MIDC police station.
During Rupa's questioning, she told the police that Khot had returned home late on Sunday night and despite her best efforts to wake him up the next day, he failed to wake up.
"However,u00a0 we suspected foul play as we found superficial injuries to Khot's lips and feet and the post mortem reports suggest that Khot died of internal injuries," Waghmare added.
The police suspect that Rupa and her lover Sunil, an employee with Khot's cable company killed Khot because of his extra marital affair which led to several quarrels between the couple.
Following the confession, both Rupa and Chavan were arrested and charged with murder.
