Mumbai: Robbers are leaving no opportunity to cash in on the panic situation post demonetisation. An unidentified robber attempted to loot a cash deposit van that was on duty to refill ATMs in Bandra, early Wednesday morning.
However, prompt action by an alert security guard of the ATM, averted the robbery. The police registered an FIR after verifying the claims made by the guard. According to security guard Ramashankar Tripathi, two cashiers were refilling cash at an ATM centre near Pali Naka, Bandra, when a man approached him with a knife. "The man asked me not to move. But, I immediately pushed him aside and got hold of my gun. Before I could point the gun at him, he fled the spot," he said.

Tripathi then went to the Bandra police station to file a complaint. When contacted, a police officer from the Bandra police said that they police have registered an FIR in the case against one unknown person aged 18-20 years under Section 506 (2) of IPC. "Investigations are still on," the official said.
