Traffic restrictions in place in Mumbai for Bal Thackeray's death anniversary

The Mumbai police made changes in traffic routes on Tuesday in view of the third death anniversary of Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray.


"Thousands of followers, party workers and supporters from all over Maharashtra are expected to visit Shivaji Park area of Dadar in Central Mumbai to pay homage to Thackeray," said DCP (HQ and East Sub) Dr Punjabrao Ugale.

The police have imposed restrictions on movement of some vehicles from 6 AM till midnight, he said.

Police said vehicles in large numbers are expected to ply on Western Express Highway and Eastern Express Highway.

Roads that are prohibited for parking are S.V.S.Road (From Siddhivinayak Mandir Junction up to Kapad Bazar Junction), Mahim Keluskar Road (Main), Keluskar Road (South) and (North), Dadar, M.B.Raut Marg (From its junction with S.V.S. Road up to L.J. Road), Dadar, Pandurang Naik Marg (Road No.5 Junction to L.J. Road) Dadar, Dadasaheb Rege Marg (From Senapati Bapat Statue up to Gadkari Junction),Dadar, Lt. Dilip Gupte Marg (From Shivaji Park Gate No. 4 up to Shitaladevi temple Junction) Mahim, N.C.Kelkar Marg (From Gadkari Junction up to Hanuman Temple Junction), Dadar.
