Almost four months after Thane builder Suraj Parmar committed suicide, the Kasarvadvli police filed a 3,050-page chargesheet in the Thane Sessions Court yesterday.

The chargesheet holds four corporators — Vikrant Chavan, Hanumant Jagdale, Najeeb Mulla and Sudhakar Chavan — guilty for harassing the builder for bribes in order to clear his projects, and abetment of
suicide.

“About 600 pages are filled with answers given by the corporators during police investigation. Another 250 pages comprise bank statements of the corporators and others. The chargesheet also includes documents collected from the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), statements of 65 people, including politicians and municipal authorities of various departments, among others. We have also attached copies of RTI queries filed by the four corporators on Parmar’s projects,” said a police officer from Thane Commissionerate.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Kasarvadavli division) D R Gore, who is also the investigating officer, said further probe in the case would be conducted as per the CrPC procedure.

Police officers who submitted the chargesheet in court refused to divulge details, claiming they had been directed by the court to maintain utmost secrecy to prevent leaks, like the ones that occurred in the high-profile Sheena Bora murder case.
