A 20-year-old youth allegedly killed his sister's father-in-law for harassing her in Murbad taluka of the district, police said on Thursday.

The accused, Dashrath Thackeray, along with two other family members, on Wednesday went to the house of his sister's in-laws in Badanewadi hamlet of the taluka and tried to inquire why they were harassing her, Assistant Superintendent of Police Bachchan Singh said.
The discussion turned into a verbal duel during which Dashrath attacked his sister's father-in-law Damoo Dagdoo Wagh (aged around 56 years) with a stick following which he collapsed and died, he said.
Later, Dashrath was arrested and offences were registered against him and two other persons - Kisan Thackeray and Gulabbai Thackeray under sections 302 (murder), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 504 read with 34 of the IPC, he said.
The body was sent for postmortem, police said, adding that a search was on to nab the other two accused.
