The accused, Datta Indulkar, called the two girls on different occasions in the last three days to his house in Kolshet area on the pretext of allowing them to watch television, they added.

He then locked the house from inside and raped the girls, aged 7 and 11 who lived in his neighbourhood, at knife-point, Kapurbawdi police station's sub-inspector R K Gaikwad said. He also threatened the girls with dire consequences if they informed about the offence to anybody, he said.

However, the victims told their respective families about the offence following which they lodged a complaint on Monday night.

Subsequently, police arrested the accused late last night and booked him under IPC sections 376 (rape), 354 (molestation), 363 (kidnapping), 341 (wrongful restraint), 504 and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC and also sections 4 and 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, he said.
