The police are taking all possible steps to avoid any untoward incident after the Hiranandani Gardens in Powai received a threat mail on February 14, warning of terror attacks.

In the aftermath of the mail, the Powai police have asked all residents of the plush locality to provide proof of their identity. They have also asked the residents to provide ID cards to servants working in the complex.u00a0

The police received the mail by a person named J J Singh who said he was living as a paying guest in the complex. The mail was traced to the e-mail ID karmaviswa@yahoo.com.

"We are still looking out for the person. As a security measure, we have decided to collect personal details (name, address, family members and photographs) of every resident in the complex," said Police Inspector
D Bansode.

Joseph Reddy, manager, administration and facility, Hiranandani Group, has also circulated security guidelines to all residential and commercial buildings in the complex. "We had organised an interactive session for residents of the complex and may start a disaster management cell soon," said Reddy. However, Pritam Khanna (name changed) feels the guidelines issued by the Powai police and the society are not feasible. "It's not possible for us to follow these guidelines. We are in a panicky situation," said Khanna.

Security guidelines
- Maintain and screen visitors' register
- CCTV cameras with a capacity of storing data for at least 15 days
- Vendors, courier parcels to be screened
- Verification of all maids
- Registration of paying guests
- Anti-burglary system in cars, under-vehicle mirrors
