Ness Wadia's driver was allegedly assaulted by the businessman after he refused this bizarre demand. Driver claims Wadia has abused him several times in the past two years of his employment

Take me from Parel to Fort in 10 minutes flat: Ness Wadia to driver

Ness Wadia’s driver has had enough. Allegedly abused and beaten by the businessman several times in the past two years of his employment, he filed a complaint of assault against him at the MRA Marg police station in Fort early on Thursday. The last straw, it turns out, was another alleged assault and a slew of abuses after failing to meet an unfeasible demand — getting from Bombay Dyeing in Parel to Fort in 10 minutes flat.

Wadia did not respond to mid-day’s calls and messages.

The police, though, only filed a non-cognisable (NC) complaint and said they will not be calling Wadia in.

As per the complaint, Wadia boarded the car at Bombay Dyeing in Parel around 1.30 pm on Wednesday and told his driver, Dhirendra Mishra (33), to get him to Fort in 10 minutes. “He told me to drive fast... I told him that I cannot drive that fast and reach Fort that quickly. After this, he started abusing me. He even hit me several times,” Mishra told mid-day.

Abuses, attacks
The fear of earning more wrath of his boss allegedly forced Mishra to speed past four traffic signals. At one such signal, he was caught by a traffic policeman and fined. “By the time I crossed JJ Flyover, the 10 minutes were up. This is when he started hitting me. He slapped me, and hit me on the head and the back. He abused me and used extremely foul language. I dropped him at the spot and returned home,” said the driver, a resident of D’mello Compound in Vakola, Santacruz East.

An upset Mishra was convinced late in the night by a friend to file a police complaint against Wadia.

Determined to call his boss out on his overbearing nature — Mishra has alleged that Wadia abuses several of his employees — the driver arrived at the MRA Marg police station on Thursday.

The police’s decision to file only an NC complaint has left Mishra disgruntled. “I’m extremely displeased with the police’s attitude for failing to register an FIR. They told me to go to court to file an FIR. Fine, I will go to court. I am being ignored because I’m poor,” he rued.

Mishra alleged that over the past two years, Wadia abused and assaulted him several times, and forced him to break traffic rules frequently.
