Man alleges Bharatmatrimony.com did not return Rs 500 registration fee even though the community meet they organised was cancelled
Getting angry over a loss of Rs 500 may seem like a small matter, but 25-year-old engineer Dipen Shah says he's a man of principles.
And he expects the company he's dealing with to be the same. Dipen was seething over the "unfair treatment" meted out to him by Bharatmatrimony.com.
Community meet

On July 20, Dipen registered with the matrimonial website's community link, Vaishnav Matrimony, to meet prospective brides through their community meet programme scheduled for later that month.
But the next day, he received a message from the site saying that the meet had been cancelled due to technical reasons.
"I waited for a month for the website to contact me for a refund or about a new date for the meet.
But when there was no communication, I believed they had duped me," said Dipen.

He claimed a clause on the site had said, 'We offer a 100 per cent refund if members do not get any response within 30 days'.
In September, when Dipen's father Bhagwandas tried to contact the site regarding the refund, he was not entertained.
Dipen is now engaged to a girl he met through relatives, but he's still angry.
"People may think I am stupid to fight for just Rs 500, especially now that I'm engaged, but it's not about money, I don't want any other person to be cheated by a matrimonial website."
The Other Side
Pratibha Karnavat, Andheri branch manager of Bharatmatrimony.com, said, "We refunded the money collected from everyone during that cancelled community meet.
But amidst the process, the concerned person left the organisation and we lost our data."
