The party has hinted that BJP stalled nullah de-silting work; BJP says if they stalled any work it must have been for valid reasons
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is at the receiving end of criticism from the Shiv Sena in the BMC. The Shiv Sena has said that if de-silting of nullahs is not completed in time and there is flooding in Mumbai, the BJP and the administration will have to answer for it. The Congress says the Sena is trying to play safe by doing this, but everyone knows the truth.

With allegations that only 40 per cent work has been completed till now, the nullah de-silting scam is a major bone of contention, particularly between the Shiv Sena and BJP — ruling parties in the BMC. Hinting that the BJP was stalling work, Trushna Vishwasrao, leader of the house and senior Sena leader said, “Those who were with us for 15 years have started stalling our plans and hence, people shouldn’t blame the Sena for flooding.”
Sanjay Nirupam, the Congress president for Mumbai, said that the Sena had promised Mumbai that there won’t be any flooding, but now the Mayor has written to the municipal commissioner holding him responsible if it happens. “The Sena had promised to keep Mumbai flood free, but now after a scam of R150 crore has emerged, even party president Uddhav Thackeray has claimed that he will not visit the cleaned nullahs, which he did last year,” said Nirupam.
A BJP spokesperson says they don’t think they have stalled any project by Sena, and if they did, it must have been for valid reasons.
“Any objection raised by the BJP in any contract, tender, or project related to de-silting has to be on valid points. The Sena is claiming that we are attacking them, but they should check history. It was they who started attacking us first.
They are part of the government in the Centre and state, but do they leave any opportunity to attack us? It was Saamana that first attacked Modiji. We are just raising important concerns affecting the citizens,” said BJP spokesperson for Mumbai, Niranjan Shetty.
