The Versova police have arrested a conman Yogi Devendra (31) who posed as the disciple of Baba Ramdev. Yogi allegedly cheated actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra's father Surendra Shetty for over a crore.

The accused had allegedly swindled Shetty for Rs 1.35 crore in the name of opening a yoga asharam and distributing herbal products under Shilpa Shetty and Baba Ramdev's brand Patanjali.

After being unable to contact the conman, who apparently switched off his phone for over a week or so, Shetty personally probed into the matter and discovered that he was swindled by him.

It is learnt that Yogi was smartly extracting petty amounts since the past two months through Internal bank transfers from Shetty's account on the pretext of setting up a factory of herbal products.

Shetty further registered a case at the Versova police station on the evening of September 16, following which the detection team setup a manhunt to trace the whereabouts of the fraudster.

"Yogi was arrested from Hastinapur region in Meerut and bought to Mumbai, where further investigations are on," said Senior Police Inspector D S Patil.
