Indrani's lawyer had moved the court on Thursday saying that police were not allowing her lawyers to meet her. The Bandra court, while allowing the application, directed the police to follow the guidelines framed by the apex court on the rights of the accused. Mukerjea's lawyer Gunjan Mangala had told the court that when the lawyers went to meet her, the police denied the permission repeatedly.
Indrani's lawyer had on Thursday moved an application in the metropolitan magistrate's court in Bandra seeking home food, clothes and permission to meet her in custody. The court later directed the prosecutor to file his reply in the application and adjourned it till today.
Indrani, the wife of former STAR CEO Peter Mukherjea, was arrested by Khar police on August 25 over her alleged role in the murder of Sheena Bora in 2012. She was later produced before the Bandra court, which remanded her in police custody till August 31.
Maharashtra's Raigad police had found remains of Bora in a forest following which a murder case was registered against unidentified persons. Indrani's driver, a co-accused who was picked by police few days back in connection with the murder, too, was arrested on August 25.
During interrogation, the driver claimed that Indrani had killed Bora and that he had helped her in disposing of the body by dumping it in the forests of Raigad district on April 24, 2012, Khar police had earlier said.
