Senior mid-day journalist honoured with Ramnath Goenka Award

mid-day city editor Vinod Kumar Menon receives the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Award for Environment story 2012 from Chairman and Managing Director of the Indian Express group, Viveck Goenka, and Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, in New Delhi yesterday, for the series of reports he had written on the plight of tribals in Mokhada taluka, Thane.

The first of the reports, published in April 2012, highlighted how the villagers were facing an acute water crisis, despite being only a few kilometres away from the Vaitarna lake.
