Newly appointed Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale (in pic) was alloted an office in Shastri Bhawan yesterday, 11 days after he took charge.

A prominent Dalit leader from Maharashtra, Atha-wale entered the office amidst chanting by Buddhist monks. Athawale told reporters he would talk to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue of quota in education and jobs for economically backward people from Brahmin, Maratha and Jat communities.
He also pitched for according more power to the National Commission for Backward Classes and said he would make an effort to that end.
New ministers in LS
Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced his new ministers to the Lok Sabha on the first day of the Monsoon Session yesterday. The Prime Minister had inducted 19 new faces in his Council of Ministers in the expansion which took place on July 5.
As per custom, Modi introduced his new colleagues in the government to the Lok Sabha on the first day of the session. These included Prakash Javadekar, the new HRD minister, who has been elevated to the Cabinet rank.
